Share with the Angels? No chance.

The angel's share refers to the amount of whiskey that is lost to evaporation when the liquid is being aged in porous barrels. It’s estimated that up to 1% of the volume of the cask can be lost each year through evaporation, lost to the angels for themto enjoy.

When we decided to collaborate with the team at Glenturret, ageing one of our beers in one of their single malt casks, we wanted to deprive the Angels of any more of Glenturret’s fantastic spirit preferring it to infuse our Scotch Ale with even more flavour, hence the name “Angels Be Damned”.

Glenturret MD John Laurie and BrewCo MD Phil Mackey met a few years back and bonded over a passion for amazing beers and whiskeys, the two brands just made sense with such shared history in Scottish distilling and Brewing. BrewCo hails from a town with a rich history of brewing, lost for a while but reborn in its new modern style of brewing. The story of Glenturret is not new, in fact it’s as old as the oldest working distillery in Scotland it has hundreds of years of stories to tell.

The announcement of this Guild of fine foods Great Taste award is a humbling accolade for both brands, but the fact that this beer achieved a 3-star award is beyond expectation. With fewer than 2% of entrants each year achieving the ‘Exquisite’ award, it means the world to both BrewCo and Glenturret distillery.

The recent recipients of a Michelin star, we are excited for the Glenturrent Lalique to be serving this amazing beer, partnering their award winning food.

"We really enjoy working with the team at Glenturret. Right from the beginning of our collaboration it’s been clear how passionate they are about whiskey and ensuring that everything that they are associated with is of the highest quality. This three star award recognises the combined work of two highly experienced capable and passionate teams.”

Phil Mckay, BrewCo MD

Tasting notes

Angels Be Damned is a wonderfully balanced and smooth barrel aged Scotch Ale. The sweet warmth of the Glenturret single malt whisky perfectly complements the maltiness of our signature Scotch Ale to produce a beer which delights across the whole of the pallet and expertly avoids any singular flavour being overpowering or harsh
